There is an “emergent leader” within each of us that can be developed and encouraged to be expressed for the benefit of the world. The leader within us is founded on the authentic expression of the self, which includes honesty, openness, and humility. The authentic leader draws on an internal source of value and power, rather than obtaining externally based power and value. These qualities are inherent within each person, however mindful attention is required to develop and nurture these qualities in order for them to be fully expressed.

In order to support soul centered leadership we must understand and act through the principle of coherence, in alignment with our own values, vision and intention. Once we are clear within ourselves ours is to be congruent in our message to those we are working with. One of the ways that Dr. Dorianne Cotter Lockard suggests is to use appreciative enquiry when posing clarifying questions to others and the visioning process with which to both engage and inspire the creative thoughts in others. When our personal values do not align within the intentions we set in business, we can create a reality as having to deal with the paradox.
